Anne Odgaard Gronbjerg

Maersk Line & Safmarine, Managing Director/Cluster Top, Jordan – Kuwait – Iraq – Iran

Anne joined A.P. Moller - Maersk in Copenhagen in 1997 as a shipping trainee and has held an array of line management jobs in Copenhagen and Singapore, followed by 3 years in internal & strategic communications - ultimately heading up that function at a global level. From 2009 to 2012, Anne headed up the Greece/Bulgaria/Cyprus Cluster, leading that team through the first 3 years of the tumultuous Greek recession.

From 1st January 2013 till today, Anne has been based in Amman, Jordan as Managing Director of the Jordan Cluster. In May this year, her scope expanded to comprise Iran, Iraq, Jordan and Kuwait. Her #1 priority this year is to deliver 10% volume growth vs. 2014, and so far the team is at 28% year-on-year growth, so things are going well! So far, Anne’s biggest learnings have been:

  1. The value of FOCUS; that a LOT of energy is unleashed if we define one clear goal and take decisions to support it

  2. The importance of CULTURE; even when you can’t see it, it pretty much runs your life…

  3. SIMPLICITY really is the highest form of sophistication; it’s true what they say!

In her spare time, Anne used to enjoy running, yoga, hiking and reading; these days, all spare time is spent running after daughters Katrine and Olivia who are quite lively at 4 and 1 years of age! This happens in close collaboration with husband Casper, who runs an online music booking platform in 5 European countries and a photo sharing app for weddings.

Anne holds a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from Copenhagen Business School, specializing in Organization and Management.

Curious fact: During 2004 and 2005 Anne was based in Ljubljana, Slovenia and worked outside the Maersk Group (!) – first as a supply chain analyst for Danfoss Slovenia and subsequently as HR and training manager for the local KPMG practice.
