President of the Gender Equality Working Group of TÜSİAD (Turkish Industry & Business Association) and Chairwoman of Suteks


Nur Ger is the Founder and President of SUTEKs. She began her high school education in Lycee de Galatasaray and completed her senior year at Lamar High School in Arlington, Texas. She returned to Istanbul to attend Boğaziçi University from where she holds a B.A in Business Administration (’78) and M.A in Economics and International Relations (’80). Ms. Ger set up her first company ‘Birlik Trading’ in 1976 when she was 20 years old. Having held different positions as project manager and as executive administrator in various textile, manufacturing firms, she started her own ready to wear export company SUTEKS in 1986 where she serves as the CEO to this date. She joined Turkish Clothing Manufacturers' Association (TGSD) in 1987 and served as the first woman President of the Board for the term 94'-96'. She is a member of TÜSİAD, founding member of KADER, TESEV and KAGİDER. Committed to the integration of women into all professional fields of public and private sector, she heads the Gender Equality Working Group in TÜSİAD and has recently become Board Member of Turkish Enterprise and Business Confederation (TÜRKONFED ).

In March 2012, SUTEKS was awarded in the contest ran by the Turkish Ministry of Labour and Social Security, “Social Gender Equality in Work Life” as being the best practicing  equal opportunity SME in Turkey.
